Come quinto free edit abbiamo deciso di ospitare uno degli artisti più eclettici della scena disco funk italiana, il quale ha “restaurato” per noi e per nostri aficionados un brano che è diventato pietra miliare della disco/new wave anni 80, dal titolo breve ma con una lunga e duratura storia alle spalle.

Wot è una canzone di Captain Sensible del 1982.

Questo simpatico brano entra subito in testa, ed ha fatto la fortuna di Captain Sensible, al secolo Raymond Burns, eccentrico cantante inglese biondo e con l’immancabile cappellino rosso, il quale con la sua originalità ha percorso oltre 20 anni e diverse generazioni di giovani, facendo conoscere la sua musica punk rock/rap che negli anni ’80 non poteva essere esente da un briciolo di elettronica. In questo brano Burns fa rivivere ancora una volta il suo basso che lo ha lanciato nel mondo discografico con i The Damned, e che regala un giro indimenticabile che ha fatto di Wot! uno dei più grandi successi degli anni ’80. La canzone raggiunge i vertici sia della classifica britannica che di molte europee, senza strafare negli States, e lancia una discreta carriera che sfocerà alla fine nella politica con il suo Blah! Party, un nome che è tutto un programma.
